A polygon is a two-dimensional geometric figure that consists of a finite number of straight line segments connected to form a closed shape. The segments are called sides or edges, and the points where two edges meet are the vertices or corners of the polygon. Polygons can be classified based on the number of sides they have, for example, a triangle has three sides, a quadrilateral has four sides, a pentagon has five sides, and so on. Additionally, polygons can be categorized as regular or irregular; regular polygons have all sides and angles equal, while irregular polygons do not. Polygons can also be classified as convex or concave, with convex polygons having all interior angles less than 180 degrees, and concave polygons having at least one interior angle greater than 180 degrees.
