Ethereum
Ethereum is a decentralized, open-source blockchain platform that facilitates the creation and execution of smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps). Unlike Bitcoin, which primarily functions as a digital currency, Ethereum enables developers to build and deploy applications that run on its blockchain. The platform uses its native cryptocurrency, Ether (ETH), to facilitate transactions and computational services within the network. Ethereum's smart contracts are self-executing contracts with the terms of the agreement directly written into code, enabling automated and trustless transactions without the need for intermediaries. The Ethereum network is constantly evolving, with upgrades such as Ethereum 2.0 aimed at improving scalability, security, and sustainability of the platform.
